Every company, however large or small and from whatever sector, has the potential to help young people.
Young people of all ages learn best by direct experiences. Activities, which bridge the gap between education and employment, open up possibilities, opportunities and challenges. They bring relevance to subjects studied at school and help develop important employability skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving.
Such activities are termed Work-Related Learning (WRL) and are being recognised by the government as increasingly important. From September 2004 work-related learning became a statutory entitlement for all students at key stage 4 (for 14-16 year olds), but these types of experiences also need to happen at a younger age when attitudes are being formed.
Employers can help in many ways such as:
§ Hosting work experience placements § Providing speakers for schools or colleges § Acting as a mentor for a student § Setting and judging enterprise and business challenges § Developing or enhancing curriculum activities and resources § Hosting visits to the workplace § Helping with interview skills and CV preparation § Providing Professional Development Placement opportunities for teachers
Business Ambassadors are volunteers recruited from local companies who represent their professions and organisations.
WEX Online is a modern, web-based system for organising work experience. Subsidised by the Local Authority, WEX Online allows students to search and apply online for placements to suit their skills and interests.

We provide local businesses with tailored team building days and conferences/workshops. Our experience within these two disciplines means we can drive, achieve, create, innovate nearly any programme you desire.
