Interactive Science Fair

 
 
This popular annual event provides pupils with a carousel of "hands-on" activities from local businesses and organisations which support and enhance the Key Stage 2 Science and Technology curriculum.

 

 
 

Facilitators from different job sectors and industries provide 30 minute hands-on activities.  Pupils get an opportunity to take part in four of these workshops on a within a carousel format.  

 
Aims of the event:

 

• To provide a carousel of activities from local businesses and organisations, which support and enhance Key Stage 2 Science and Technology projects.

• To offer pupils a “glimpse” of the World of Work.

• To provide pupils with the opportunity for hands-on activities related to specific skills required in different careers and occupational areas.

• To enable pupils to develop Key Skills in communication, working with others, and improving their own learning.

• To work in small groups, with and alongside pupils from other schools to appreciate the need for teamwork.

• To learn the importance of the links between education and the world of work.

• To gain confidence and have fun with Science!
 
 

Location: School Hall. 

Number of pupils: Up to 150 dependent on size of hall.

Target Age: Year 5 and Year 6, all abilities
