Plastic Fantastic

Plastic Fantastic takes a business angle on a current issue – waste and recycling. Well over a billion single-use plastic bags given out for free each day. But as the old adage says, noting comes for free.

This enterprise project focuses students on the issues surrounding the current waste problem in this country using fashion as an outlet. Guided through the issue of recycling, students find out how to create clothing and fashion accessories from plastic bags and other waste materials.

Using creativity, initiative and imagination, student companies will compete against each other and come head to head in a fashion show of their work. This project forms an excellent awareness raising event for the students and the community.

Aims of Project:

  • Learn how a business operates
  • Learn about waste minimisation and recycling
  • Develop team, communication and thinking skills
  • Organise an event in a real context

This event is aimed at up to 250 13-16 year olds over one to three school days, designed to suit school requirements.
